Stephen's journey begins from a rich history of racing blood. Being the son of Les Theodore, his childhood was surrounded by horse flesh, success and he was no stranger to the winner's circle, with Les winning four Group 1’s in his illustrious career. On the dam sire being the grandson of Riverina legendary trainer Bert Honeychurch, no other career stood a chance.
In 2003 Stephen took out his trainer's license and within 12-months he secured his own Group 2 victory and a 3rd in a Group 1 with Count Ricardo. For the next 15-years Stephen was successfully training in Victoria with another 23 top 3 finishes in black type races and 300 wins in total.
With a move to South Australia, Stephen found himself in a new role of racing. For 5 years he was racing manager for Travis Doudle Racing. This is where he was able to reinvent horse communication to owners and video content portraying stable updates and all current information.
Stephen was thrilled to announce his move to Murray Bridge in 2024. Stephen and the STR Team are looking forward to their new venture of training on course at the Murray Bridge Racing Club.
